The consideration of gender & diversity when designing software for safety-critical work environments such as emergency call control or traffic operating centres often proves difficult, as not only the work, but also the developer environment tend to be dominated by male staff. This paper describes the feasibility of eye tracking tests in a safety-critical work environment and its potential to recognize gender- & diversity requirements based on defined hypotheses. The findings presented in this paper are based on a field test in a control room of Österreichische Bundesbahn (ÖBB), which was conducted within the research project called GenSiSys.
