English abstract:
Chemical analysis using laser ablation ICP-MS is well suited for trace elemental analysis of solid materials. Due to the possibility of laterally resolved analysis this technique has also been used in multiple applications involving elemental mapping of different kinds of samples. Besides applications in environmental sciences or geology LA-ICP-MS is also increasingly applied in the life sciences for the analysis of biologically relevant trace metals in tissue or other biomaterials. Depending on the sample to be analyzed the obtainable lateral resolution is a major factor to be considered in LA-ICP-MS investigations which can be influenced by the used laser instrumentation, laser settings and scanning modes.
