English abstract:
During the last decades in the area of the port of Enns in Austria a lot of sedimentation processes resulted in recurrent
aggradations, which affected the functionality of the harbor entrance area. So the Vienna University of Technology started
investigations to find a solution with river engineering devices, to reduce these dredging operations in the future.
Because of the existing conditions it was not expected to find the ideal solution very easily. So it was decided to organize the
necessary investigations in a modular concept. The first step was to analyze the existing informations in the form of a timetable.
The next step was to build a hydraulic model of the actual state. In the third step a lot of possible variations was calculated with a
2D-CFD simulations software to find an optimal solution for our problem. The last module was the examination of the optimized
solution in the physical model and the comparison with the actual state.
The investigations showed, that with the help of the developed solution with an approach pier and an opposite groin it will be
possible to reduce the depositions in the entrance area of the port of Enns without a significantly increase of the water level
upstream of the port.
