"Projections of the Labour Force by Age, Gender and Highest Level of Educational Attainment until 2050";
Bericht für AGENTA Projekt - Working Paper; 2016; 50 S.

Kurzfassung englisch:
In the last decades population ageing went hand in hand with increasing levels of
education and better health of the population. Both of these developments are
related with a higher labour force participation. In this paper we simulate possible
developments of the labour force until 2050, taking into account increasing
levels of education as well as age-specific trends in labour force participation and
employment. Furthermore, we analyse the size of the age-, gender- and educationspecific
labour force potential considering non-employed persons across countries.
Among the population aged 50-69 we additionally differentiate persons by their
health status. We conclude that a lack of potential workers is unlikely to be a major
economic problem in the future, despite pronounced population ageing. Far more
challenging for societies is the integration of this potential into employment.
