"Energy-efficient wastewater treatment - current trends and future needs";
Talk: Presentation as part of the UniSA Collaborative Research Program, Adelaide, Australia (invited); 10-18-2016.

English abstract:
Energy use and optimisation of wastewater treatment is highly topical in wastewater engineering and research. Based on the current research trends in energy optimisation of wastewater treatment processes, this seminar will provide an overview of promising technologies for full scale implementation and identify future research needs. Topics to be discussed in the context of energy optimisation will include enhanced primary sedimentation, anaerobic co-digestion, main stream deammonification (anammox), microbial fuel cells, fermentative hydrogen production and membrane aerated biofilm reactors. The potential impacts of operational changes, made for energy savings, on wastewater treatment greenhouse gas emissions will also be discussed.
