Abstract
This book (143 pages) presents a new technology-enhanced approach to onsite teaching. Technology Enhanced Teaching (or Training), acronym TET, is an innovative onsite teaching method making intensively use of technology. Due to the affinity to TEL the new acronym TET is introduced.
The method bases on the consequently and permanently use of multiple devices (Laptops, tablets or similar devices) during class: Taking notes is supplied by basic texts provided by the teacher (or trainer) containing the chapterīs structure with headings, a package of graphics and images to be inserted into the text during lesson, and additional multimedia based material. Content is delivered by lectures using presentations. Students are involved interactively during class to provide active learning. These activities cover small group work as well as discussions. The learning goals are defined using a competence model. Assessment is done by formative evaluation and regularly competence check.
The core item of innovative approach is the use of technology in combination with a sophisticated system to take notes. The multiple device replaces paper & pencil and offers additional the access to multimedia based material or videos during class. The students create perfect files and their own well-structured learning repository. This makes reflections easy and supports the studentsī learning.
The system was developed in 2008 and evaluated and revised first after two years. Five years later a study brings up promising results with a very positive feedback from the students.
The book describes the complete teaching method, includes the complete study and finally a transferability guide.
For the teaching method, which was tested and developed in teaching science (especially physics) upper high school classes a transferability guide to other subjects as well as to other educational fields like Adult Education (AE) or Higher Education (HE) exists.
