English abstract:
Intelligent control of streetlights in urban areas has shown big energy saving potential. While state-of-the-art control is still implemented by various local dimming strategies based on single sensor values or fixed schedules, adaptive control that adjusts the level of luminance intensity by taking the current traffic situation into account can drastically improve energy consumption and the safety of participants. Most proposed solutions so far focus only on artificial setups and/or sub-aspects of the problem. From a technical and economic standpoint, cost effective sensor integration, simple provi- sioning as well as proper data aggregation are required to achieve an adequate level of quality with an economically viable, intelligent lighting control.
