Kurzfassung englisch:
The invention of a new aluminum based photo acid generator PAG1 that unifies several advantages compared to the state of the art PAGs, like high performance, good solubility, heavy metal free structure, easy synthesis and good pot life has the potential to breathe new life into the whole field of cationic photopolymerization.
Another promising aspect of cationic photopolymerization is the so-called radical induced cationic frontal polymerization. RCIFP is a technique that utilizes the liberated reaction heat to start a new polymerization. With this simple trick a self-sustaining reaction front can be established. This allows curing of e.g. epoxy formulations in bulk within minutes without almost any spatial restrictions or the necessity of an oven2-3.
