Kurzfassung englisch:
Radical photopolymerization is of utmost importance in industrial
applications such as decorative and protective coatings, but
also in more advanced fields such as biomaterials and additive
manufacturing. Oxygen inhibition in thin layers and low impact
resistance of brittle bulk photopolymers are still limiting factors to
cope with. Regulating radical photopolymerization with hydrogen
donors such as thiols can improve the polymerization process due
to low oxygen inhibition and resulting materials exhibit reduced
shrinkage stress and tuneable thermomechanical properties.
Substituted cyclohexa-1,4-diens are known as hydrogen donors
from radical induced hydrogen abstraction fragmentation reducing
reactions in organic chemistry.l -3 The performance of this substance
class as hydrogen donor in radical photopolymerization is unknown.
A substituted dimethoxy cyclohexadiene was synthesized and
thoroughly investigated.
