"Portsmouth im Zeichen des Klimawandels - eine architektonische Antwort";

There is no denying of climate change and
the resulting rise of sea levels. Portsmouth,
a port town at England´s south coast, is
already affected by the increased fl ood
risk. The projected sea level´s rise of up to
one metre increases this risk and poses a
threat to the inhabitants. In order to counteract
this danger, new protective structures
against storm surges along the coast of
the island city are necessary. There is already
a plan, but it is rejected by the inhabitants.
This work shows a different approach
to coastal protection and completes this
topic with a sustainable, resource-effi cient
and ecological hotel construction. Both
the chosen materials and construction, as
well as the technical and building aspects
of England are touched in this work. The
approach of the integral planning method,
BIM, is discussed in theory. The use of locally
available materials, coupled with an effi cient
modular construction and prefabrication
at the factory, leads to a modern hotel
building at Portsmouth´s coast.

Der Klimawandel und der daraus resultierende
Anstieg des Meeresspiegels ist nicht
zu leugnen. Portsmouth, eine Hafenstadt an
der englischen Südküste, ist schon jetzt von
dem erhöhten Flutrisiko betroffen. Durch
den prognostizierten Anstieg des Meeresspiegels
um bis zu einem Meter erhöht sich
dieses Risiko und stellt eine Bedrohung für
die Einwohner dar. Um dieser Gefahr entgegen
zu wirken, sind neue Schutzbauwerke
gegen Sturmfl uten entlang der Küste der
Inselstadt nötig. Eine Planung besteht bereits,
jedoch wird sie von den Einwohnern
abgelehnt. Diese Arbeit zeigt eine andere
Herangehensweise bezüglich des Küstenschutzes
auf und rundet dieses Thema mit
einem nachhaltigen, ressourceneffi zienten
und ökologischen Hotelbau ab. Sowohl die
gewählten Materialien und die Konstruktionsweise,
als auch die haustechnischen
und baurechtlichen Aspekte Englands werden
in dieser Arbeit berührt. Der Ansatz der
integralen Planungsmethode BIM wird theoretisch
erörtert. Die Verwendung von lokal
vorhandenen Materialien, gekoppelt mit
einer effi zienten Modulbauweise samt Vorfertigung
im Werk, führt zu einem modernen
Hotelbau an Portsmouth´s Küste.
