The project "GRÜNEzukunftSCHULEN" not only develops and researches new building-greeningconcepts,but also implements them in real
projects. The developed concepts are tested in two new schools and in one school at the planning and construction phase.
The project aims the research, development and implementation of new greening-concepts in lifesize projects. The results will be compared with the outcomes of another school project: the GreenPlusSchool, GrünPlusSchule,GRG7, Kandlgasse). In this project the greening-concepts were implemented during the renovation of the old school-building.
The comparison will allow to see the differences between greening-concepts installed in new and old buildings, with a special focus on the impact on the energy and water consumption, on the building and
on the indoor climate. From special interest is the comparison of rooms with mechanical ventilation system and without it.
This should answer the question of whether the moisture content of the air, in a room with greening, is affected by the use of mechanical
ventilation or not. The findings and lessons learned will be
summarized in a Guideline for green-architecture in school construction.
