Kurzfassung englisch:
We present the discovery of a novel aluminum-based photo acid generator PAG [1] that reveals several advantages compared to current state of the art PAGs, like high performance, good solubility, heavy metal free structure and easy synthesis. It could potentially revitalize the whole field of cationic photopolymerization and its applications.
Furthermore, another promising concept regarding cationic photopolymerization is the so-called radical induced cationic frontal polymerization (RICFP), which is a technique that utilizes the initially liberated reaction heat to start another polymerization. By using this simple trick, a self-sustaining reaction front can be established, enabling the curing of e.g. epoxy formulations in bulk within minutes without almost any spatial restrictions or the necessity of a heating chamber.
