English abstract:
Current prototype design of windows of operational railway vehicles guarantees protection against Infra-red (IR) and Ultra-violet (UV) radiation. However, this design affects negatively RF propagation at wireless frequencies. Therefore, composite panes with metal coated structures are necessary to mitigate this issue. In this context, Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSSs) are a promise solution for current and future mobile communications on-board railway vehicles (trains). In my presentation I will give a brief overview of a particular FSS embodiment along with discussion about smartphone-based measurement results for vehicular use cases at 800 (LTE), 2100 (UMTS), and 2600 MHz (LTE) with on-board FSS prototype.
