Kurzfassung englisch:
This paper is about reflecting to the approach of Living Labs as challenging but productive and useful means of building and establishing communities in urban settings. So far, there are several Living Labs implemented over the world with more or less success, but it is still not clear how to make them powerful approaches to create and support sustainable, self-organized, and autonomous communities. In this paper, we deal with this problem. We present our neighborhood mobility lab (aspern.mobil LAB) to illustrate how to set up such a lab from scratch. We show which organizational, (infra)structural elements, and methodical approaches are useful to create a so called research community that also includes active citizens besides other stakeholders. We suggest to consider socio-technology as the guiding principle to shape and manage activities and services of Living Labs for community building and maintenance.
