In recent years, progressive cities in many European coun- tries have started to protest against the restrictive European border and migration regime and the right-wing agenda of their national governments. Top-down initiatives as well as grassroots movements have emerged under the banner of the `Solidarity City´. The lecture examines this trend and asks for possible implications for urban planners as well as local politicians and city administrations.
