Kurzfassung englisch:
For a rational design of materials based on the molecular bistability exhibited by iron(II) spin-crossover compounds it is of utmost importance to derive a structure-property relationship. Currently, there is no general building principle to accomplish such a desired feature. Therefore, we focus our research on the extremely versatile ligand system of N1-substituted tetrazoles using homologous series of complexes to elucidate structural and electronic influences on the spin transition behavior of Fe(II) spin-crossover compounds. Several series of mononuclear as well as 1D-chain-type and 3D-network polynuclear complexes will be presented allowing for the development of synthetic strategies towards a rational design.
