English abstract:
This chapter sets out the basis for an alternative approach to designing the human dominated environment which is entitled "embedded architectures". As its core this approach aims for architecture and environment integration, with the aim to reconnect architecture, landscape architecture and urban design and linking them to correlated aspects of culture, climate and ecology. The notion of embedded architectures constitutes a distinct development of a specific take on performance-oriented architecture. The principal aim is to configure an advanced approach to multi-domain sustainable design that overcomes the perceived dichotomy between the human dominated - and more specifically the built environment - on the one hand and the natural environment on the other hand.
