English abstract:
Being a part of the Austrian monarchy in times of the global wave of industrialization and urbanization of the 19th century, Prague has an abundance of quarters with great similarities to Vienna´s "Gründerzeit"-style. However, the history of how these quarters emerged and developed very much differs.
One of Prague´s Gründerzeit-district is Zizkov, today a central part of the city, which emerged and over a long period existed as an independent town outside the city borders of Prague.

Keywords:
Prague, Gründerzeit, Zizkov
