English abstract:
Volatile memory is used to store frequent accesses to mapping tables in flash memories. However, these tables may be lost after a sudden power failure. This paper introduces an optimized metadata recovery scheme that retrieves the tables faster than the state-of-the-art. In this scheme, through a compression technique, several data are stored with their metadata in a physical page by using a fast technique for the compressible and incompressible data. In the compressible data recovery, the metadata of the previous pages is also embedded in the data area of each physical page. In the incompressible data, the metadata are stored in physical pages of compressible data. The proposed method has a lower area overhead and higher performance when compared to the previous recent related works. The simulation results show that the proposed method under real workloads outperforms other schemes by a significant reduction in the recovery time up to 92.42%.
