The topic of this master thesis is about co-living, a new model of modern shared living. It is desig-ned to accommodate a group of individuals and is centered around community, collaboration and connected living. Although the concept of living together or sharing housing models have been around for quite some time, shared living in this particular form right now is new. It is in fact a response to the modern lifestyle of socie-ty and also an answer to the current residential market situation in cities worldwide. Observing the future impact of co-living on housing is one of the goals in this thesis.
In the first part, co-living is going to be analyzed from different point of views. The term itself has to be clarified and the relation to other forms of living is going to be allocated. Moreover, al-ready realized reference projects, which parti-cularly have been designed for co-living, will be presented to point out the characteristics of the concept itself.
The second part of this thesis includes a de-sign project, based on the knowledge of the first part. The project location refers to a pla-ce in Vienna in the district of Meidling. First of all, the urban planning context will be explained and will be captured via photo documentation, followed by the analysis of the building site. The goal of the project is to design a house which offers individual living units paired with shared spaces within the building.
The design proposal should strengthen the fee-ling of the community, but at the same time maintain privacy for each individual inhabitant. The representation of the concept is going to be described by drawings, visualizations and also by key figures of the project.

Die vorliegende Masterarbeit befasst sich mit dem Thema der kollektiven Wohnform Co-Living. Im Wesentlichen bietet ein Co-Living Konzept Wohnungen für mehrere Personen an, wobei der Schwerpunkt dabei auf der Gemeinschaftsbildung innerhalb eines Wohnprojekts liegt. Es handelt sich um eine zeitgenössische Wohnform, die gerade jetzt ihren Aufschwung erfährt. Das Konzept Co-Living ist eine Antwort auf die aktuelle Wohnungssituation in Städten weltweit. Ein Ziel der Arbeit ist es, das Konzept näher zu beleuchten und es als zukunftsträchtige Alternative des Wohnbaus herauszuarbeiten.
Im ersten Teil wird das Thema Co-Living anhand verschiedener Themenschwerpunkte analysiert. Der Begriff Co-Living wird definiert und die Abgrenzung zu anderen Wohnformen thematisiert. Des Weiteren werden ausgewählte internationale Referenzprojekte vorgestellt, die bereits das Co-Living Konzept in einem Gebäude realisiert haben.
Der zweite Teil der Arbeit umfasst ein Entwurfsprojekt, welches auf den Erkenntnissen des ersten Teils basiert. Als Bauplatz des Entwurfs dient ein Ort in Wien Meidling. Zunächst wird der städtebauliche Kontext zum Bauplatz näher erläutert und mit einer Fotodokumentation festgehalten, danach das Entwurfsprojekt selbst thematisiert. Ziel bei dem Entwurf ist es, private Wohnbereiche mit gemeinschaftlich nutzbaren Bereichen in einem Gebäude so umzusetzen, dass das Gemeinschaftsgefühl innerhalb des Hauses gestärkt wird, aber zugleich die Privatheit bewahrt bleibt und auf Bedürfnisse der Bewohner Acht genommen wird.
Die Entwurfslösung wird anhand von Planinhalten, Schaubildern und Kennzahlen des Projekts beschrieben.
