High blood pressure is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, such as strokes and heart diseases. Yet, due to the need for specialized knowledge or equipment, such as a cuff, only every second hypertensive person is aware of their condition. Thus, in order to improve hypertension awareness and enable anytime, anywhere blood pressure monitoring, this thesis deploys a newly devised algorithm for a smartphone based device, utilizing the cuff-less oscillometric finger pressing method, where the finger serves as an actuator instead of the cuff.
