Analysis of station distances for subways
In this report, stop distances of high-level, inner-city transport systems in different European cities are examined. The quality criteria of a public transport system are specified which depend mainly on the location of the bus stop distances. Additionally, there is an insight on how the choice of stop distances affects the operational and production costs of a public transport system. The results show that the quality of a public transport system strongly depends on the network design variable of the stop spacing. In the transport companies considered, no analytical methods are applied to optimize the distance between the stops, but rather empirical and standard values.

Die Qualität eines ÖPNV-Systems ist unter anderem von dessen Netzgestaltung abhängig. Die Netzgestaltungsvariable des Haltestellenabstands weist dabei einen starken Einfluss auf die Qualität eines hochrangigen, innerstädtischen Verkehrssystems auf. Mithilfe von Untersuchungen verschiedener U-Bahnlinien unterschiedlicher Städte wurde ermittelt, welche Auswirkungen die Wahl des Haltestellenabstands auf die Qualität sowie Betriebskosten eines ÖPNV-Systems haben kann.
