Kurzfassung englisch:
2-Photon Polymerization (2PP) takes advantage of nonlinear absorption of femtosecond laser pulses to induce cross-linking, in order to create 3D structures with a high temporal and spatial control, thereby enabling spatial resolution in the sub-micrometer range (down to < 100 nm). Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) is an important scientific and diagnostic tool based on non-invasive characterization of multiscale diffusion processes. Complex models for analyzing the DWI data are proposed. To test those models a well-defined diffusion phantom, a so called ground truth phantom, with a known design is needed. Combining up-scaling techniques with the high-resolution nature of 2PP allows it to create such phantoms with complex networks of channels that resemble axons and are suitable for DWI.
