English abstract:
The present diploma thesis "Clubhouse 2.0 - A new village
house in South Tyrol" deals with the reinterpretation of a real
building task. This consists of the basic assessment, the
building design and the associated integration into the
village scape.
The outdated village house of Barbian from 1978 is no longer able to cope with
today's user requirements. From an aesthetic and spatial point of view, the house is
in urgent need of renovation and current standards cannot be met. The problems of
the building concern technical, functional and usage-oriented aspects, as discussed
in chapter 3.
The reinterpretation of the Clubhouse 2.0 has become necessary and will thereby
result in a future-oriented overall concept with high flexibility and adaptability. The
basis is formed on the one hand by the local and historically evolved formal language
and on the other hand by the design principles that have been developed for this
project.
The basic assessment conducted showed that the newly designed village house can
use the given potential of height, the view and the topography of the location. The
object is oriented towards the village church and thus forms the connection and
termination of the village center. The integration of various interest groups and
associations in the village brings with it the need for a multifaceted design. Flexible
utilization options and the variability of the building structure thus became a key
issue of the project. Examples, therefore, are the retractable open-air stage (p.100f.) as
well as the enlarged school area with its many areas of applications (p.97). Hence,
every social group of the community receives its personal sphere of action in the
heart of the village.
The open interpretation of the building structure enables later adaptations and
necessary changes in a simplified way. The prefabrication supports the idea of a
superordinate fixed load-bearing structure in order to achieve great flexibility (p.182f.).
Thus, a variety of spatial solutions for different user groups can be defined and the
active revitalization of the important village house for the community is also ensured
in the mid and long term.

The design also evaluated sustainable building materials, especially timber
construction. (p.158f.) This offers the possibility of a recycling-friendly and sustainable
realization via local companies. With regard to the use of recycled concrete, local
construction is not yet so advanced. It is to be hoped that the development of this
effect will have taken place by the time of construction (p.150).
The return to the historical building fabric, the choice of local building materials and
the modern architectural language of shape are essential parts of the present work
and should offer the villagers and visitors added value in the future. Thanks to the
modernized version Clubhouse 2.0, there will soon be nothing standing in the way of
the free development of each individual.

German abstract:
Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit "Vereinshaus 2.0 - Ein neues
Dorfhaus in Südtirol" behandelt die Neuinterpretation einer
realen Bauaufgabe.
