English abstract:
Machine learning presents a general, systematic framework for the generation of formal theoretical models for physical description and prediction. Tentatively standard linear modeling techniques are reviewed; followed by a brief discussion of generalizations to deep forward networks for approximating nonlinear phenomena and universal computers.

German abstract:
Maschinelles Lernen stellt einen allgemeinen, systematischen Rahmen für die Erzeugung formaler theoretischer Modelle zur physikalischen Beschreibung und Vorhersage dar. Es werden lineare Standardmodellierungstechniken besprochen, gefolgt von einer kurzen Diskussion der Verallgemeinerungen auf tiefe Vorwärtsnetzwerke zur Approximation nichtlinearer Phänomene und universeller Computer.
