English abstract:
We are dealing with stiffness phenomena in initial value problems for systems
of ordinary differential equations.
Such problems appear in many physical applications, for instance,
in the modeling of the evolution in time of mechanical systems or of electronic devices.

A general theory of stiffness effects is not given here.
Rather, several concrete examples are discussed in order to support understanding such effects.
Use of computer algebra is also a relevant issue here.

Keywords:
stiffness, transient effects, asymptotic damping, non-normality, numerical integration, order reduction, Gershgorin criterion, Routh-Hurwitz criterion
