English abstract:
We report on the "Big Data on VSC" course, the first of its kind. The goal of the hands-on training is to introduce the Hadoop distributed programming paradigm to the Vienna Scientific Cluster's users and illustrate its usage with examples in multiple programming languages.

Wir berichten über den Kurs "Big Data on VSC", der erste seiner Art. Ziel des praxisorientierten Trainings ist es, den Nutzern des Vienna Scientific Cluster das Paradigma der verteilten Programmierung von Hadoop vorzustellen und seine Anwendung mit Beispielen in mehreren Programmiersprachen zu veranschaulichen.
