English abstract:
The urban planning of the 19th century shaped the basis of a modern development in Europe. After the transition to the industrial age, innovative planning methods were established. The rapid population growth led to the acceleration of construction. Consequently, building typologies emerged that are comparable across European capitals. They show similarities internationally while maintaining distinctive local characteristics. This paper investigates their origin in Budapest and Vienna.
