Esch-sur-Alzette, together with ten Pro-Sud municipalitiesand the eight French municipalities of the Haut Val de l`Alzette,will hold the title of Capital of Culture in 2022. Thiswill bring international attention to Luxembourg`s secondlargest city and will boost tourism in the whole region.The district of Esch-Belval in particular has developedgreatly in recent years; from the former forest area "EscherBësch", with its alleged magic source, to the former industriallocation. Today, the Belval shines in new splendourand is one of the most ambitious urban developmentprojects in Europe. In addition to shopping and culturalopportunities and newly created living space, the new campusof the University of Luxembourg was also opened herein 2015. The interplay of new and old, of modern buildingsand the historic blast furnaces, has created an excitingand historic quarter that is waiting to be discovered.However, hotel rooms for tourists and business peopleas well as accommodations for students are stillvery scarce in the area. This is exactly where theproject "The Greenerie" comes in and tries to combinethe urgently needed areas of hotel and student rooms.

Esch-sur-Alzette wird im Jahr 2022, gemeinsam mitzehn Pro-Sud-Gemeinden sowie den acht französischenKommunen des Haut Val de l`Alzette, den Titel der Kulturhauptstadt tragen. Somit erlangt die zweitgrößte Stadt Luxemburgs internationale Aufmerksamkeitund der Tourismus in der Region soll angekurbelt werden. Besonders der Stadtteil Esch-Belval hat sich in denletzten Jahren sehr stark entwickelt; vom einstigen Waldgebiet "Escher Bësch", mit angeblicher magischerQuelle, hin zum einstigen Industriestandort. Heute erstrahltder Belval im neuen Glanz und zählt zu einem derambitioniertesten Stadtentwicklungsprojekten Europas.Neben Einkaufs- und Kulturmöglichkeiten sowie neu geschaffenem Wohnraum, wurde 2015 hier auch der neue Campus derUniversität Luxemburg eröffnet. Durch das Zusammenspielvon Neu und Alt, von modernen Bauten und den historischenHochöfen, ist hier ein spannendes und geschichtsträchtigesQuartier entstanden, welches darauf wartet entdeckt zu werden.Allerdings sind Hotelzimmer für Touristen und Geschäftsleutesowie Unterkünfte für Studenten in der Umgebung immer noch sehr knapp. Genau hier knüpft das Projekt"The Greenerie" an und versucht die dringend notwendigen Flächen an Hotel- sowie Studentenzimmer zu vereinen.
