English abstract:
With materials planning today facing a volatile and complex market environment, the trend towards automated processes in procurement is the key to market competitiveness. Digitisation in procurement and especially algorithms for lot-sizing problems can support decisions and achieve major cost savings. Although simulation-based optimisation, based on lot-sizing algorithms, offers great potential, these digital tools are not yet widely used in industry. This paper develops a simulation-based optimisation of purchase orders and presents a case-study evaluation in the capital good industry, using 13 different lot-sizing algorithms. The results point to a significant cost savings potential for the developed approach.
