Evaluation possibilities for the zero-emission
operation of regional rails
While regional rails are still often operated with
diesel engine locomotives, this operation form
is less and less accepted due to environmental
reasons. In addition to electrification, battery and
hydrogen hybrid driven vehicles also provide
an alternative. To compare different systems, an
assessment process based on a utility analysis is
developed and applied on the route Linz-Aigen-
Schlägl in Austria as an example.
