English abstract:
A near abelian locally compact group has an abelian normal subgroup with topologically locally cyclic quotient. G acts by scalars. The structure of such groups is determined and applied to describe topologically quasihamiltonian groups as introduced and investigated by Plaumann and Kümmich 1977.
German abstract:
Ist G modulo eines abelschen Normalteilers topologisch lokal zyklisch und wirkt G auf dem Normalteiler "skalar", so wird die Struktur im Falle der Lokalkompaktheit bestimmt. Als Folgerung werden topologisch quasihamiltonsche Gruppen beschrieben -- ein Finalpunkt der Untersuchungen von Plaumann und Kümmich aus dem Jahr 1977.
